Candles
What are your candles made of?
All K. Hall Studio candles are hand poured in small batches using a 100% natural soy and vegetable wax blend. We take pride in the fact that our wax is made from soy and vegetables grown by American farmers.
What can I do the first time I burn a candle to help it last longer?
The first time that you burn a candle, it should burn until the wax pool melts all the way to the edges. Depending the size of the candle, this could take 2-3 hours. The wax has "memory" and doing this will help the candle burn longer and more evenly, while helping prevent the wick from funneling down in the wax.
My candle just keeps tunneling - how can I fix it?
Depending on how deep the wick has tunneled, there are different things you can try to fix it. If the hole is not too deep, you can wrap a piece of aluminum foil around the candle (leaving 1" above the top of the glass) or use a candle warmer. These will help retain the heat produced by the flame and help melt the wax off the sides that isn't being reached. If the hole is deep, we recommend scraping out the wax left on the sides and restarting the first burn process (as explained in the question above).
What helps to prolong the life of a candle?
Trim the wick to 1/4" before you light the candle for each burn.
Can I keep the candle vessel for decoration after the candle has completed burning?
Yes! Many K. Hall Studio customers like to use their leftover candle glass as vases, containers or decorative accessories in the home after the candle has completed burning. To remove any excess wax, simply place the candle in the freezer. After several hours, the wax will harden and can gently be removed with a butter knife or blunt object. Any remaining residue can be rinsed out with hot water.
Scent Diffusers
How long will your scent diffusers last?
Our scent diffusers can last for over a year or more, since diffuser oil naturally disperses very slowly. We recommend adding more diffuser oil after bottle becomes half empty or every six months to refresh the scent.
Will the diffuser oil harm finished surfaces?
The diffuser oil should never be poured into a diffuser on a finished surface. The oil can take paint and finish off of surfaces and discolor fabrics. Use extreme care when pouring the oil into the diffuser bottle. We recommend pouring the oil into the bottle in a sink and then wiping any drips of oil carefully from the bottle prior to placing the diffuser in the desired location.
How often should I flip the diffuser reeds?
We recommend flipping the reeds once per week to deliver continuous fragrance. When flipping the reeds, make sure to carefully flip them without dripping the diffuser oil. It is best to flip the reeds over a sink to protect your surfaces.
Is the diffuser oil safe to ingest?
No! Fragrance diffuser oil is not safe to ingest and should be kept away from children and pets. Immediately contact your physician or poison control if accidental ingestion occurs.
